Digimon seasons 1-2 rewatch

People keep asking me where i’m watching Digimon, and I am really enjoying it so much that i’ve love to organize some sort of rewatch because it makes me happy when I can enjoy things with people. I started re watching season 2 thinking it would be sort of stupid and nostalgic, but it’s just as good as I remember it.

So, for those of you who forgot, Digimon is a 1990s-2000’s children’s anime that follows generations of children into an alternate data based universe inhabited by creatures called Digimon. In case you you remember this as a fun, friendly little kid’s show, it may be best to mention that it’s not.

Despite it’s design as a children show, Digimon focused on a lot of interestingly adult literary themes and tropes. Some of which include the nature of evil, brainwashing, existential crisises, artificial life, what makes someone “alive”, stockholm syndrome, animal abuse, self doubt, jealously/narcissism, religious themes, slavery, genocide, family deaths and broken homes, redemption, parallel universes. The show was also extremely heavy on villain redemption and anti heroes.
