one of the things i like most about Axel is how carefully he chooses his words, and how important each and every one of them is. very little that comes out of his mouth is without careful consideration, and most everything he says has more meaning than face value if you stop and think for a moment.

this scene, for example… at face value, Axel is just giving Sora and his party some sideways information. really all he’s telling them is that Xemnas is the leader of Organization 13, but between the lines, there’s more to it. did anyone else pause at the fact that Axel says that Xemnas is their leader? he’s still wearing the coat, but he’s using a distancing pronoun here. Xemnas isn’t his superior anymore. even in the original dialogue he makes the distinction that Xemnas is The Organization’s leader; there’s no mention of his own allegiances. if Sora and the guys had been paying more attention, they probably would have come to the conclusion that Axel wasn’t their enemy a lot sooner.

fun fact: in the game novels, Axel is actually still hanging around when Goofy gets conked out saving Mickey, shortly before this scene. when the others run off to have their revenge, Axel just kind of shakes his head and goes to investigate, musing how Mickey’s a ninny for not even bothering to check for a pulse. then he gives Goofy a Potion. when Goofy asks who he is, Axel simply replies, “I’m not telling.” when Goofy presses, “Aren’t you with the Organization?” the reply is the same, “I’m not telling.” then he tells Goofy that Sora and the others went that-a-way and to get a move on.

during this confrontation in the photoset, when Sora and Donald are still very skeptical, you may have noticed Goofy was actually the more reasonable of the three of them, asking simply, “So Organization 13 wants to get rid of the Heartless?” instead of throwing accusations. without the context it seemed a bit odd to me, but after reading the novels it made a lot more sense that Goofy would be accommodating. when Sora tells him and Donald that Axel helped him and then disappeared, Goofy is keenly sad about it, and tells them that Axel helped him out once before.

ugh, i need to just. have lots of money so i can stop going to work and just translate shit all day long because the KH expanded canon is just fucking fabulous.

Did Nomura-sama said, in any definite way, that Marluxia is so? Yes (interview, article, pics, source, or else it didn’t happen, fellas - no fucked up fanmade/unofficial/pssh-whatev headcanon)? No? Then who’s to say what Marluxia is specifically? If he’s much in the obscure in regards of his sexuality, then what’s the problem if one fan believes that he’s hetero/homo/bi/pan/cis/trans/whatever? Since Nomura-sama didn’t give anything definite about it, why on earth should any one else of whom Marluxia is NOT their intellectual property/right? What gives them that definitive say?

You’re ranting, I’m ranting, because above all, this whole farce is pointless, and you should NEVER, NEVER, NEVER have to apologize about it in the first place. Nomura-sama didn’t give anything definite, so just as fans have much liberty of freedom to cast Marluxia in the light of being a homosexual, so do other fans have that much same right to cast him in the light of being a hetero. Sexual liberty is something that one can stand up for if you so please, but to the extent of creating a ridiculous outrage such as this (them, Ed, not you), what a paradox it becomes, when in standing up for one’s freedom of speech, you impinge and oppress upon someone else’s freedom of thought. Mutual respect, y’all, please.
